The program helps survivors of National Socialist persecution in Ukraine to have a good life and to be able to grow old with dignity.
With the We're Here! projects, survivorsare socially integrated and take part in society. They feel better provided for in terms of their basic needs. For example, project staff help survivors to cope with everyday life, accompany them to the doctor or offer group meetings for leisure activities or to support health.
In 2021, the program was called for the third time: 41 project outlines were submitted. A German-Ukrainian jury recommended 16 organizations for funding, which were then invited to apply. The new - usually two-year - projects will start in the beginning of 2022.
Survivors of National Socialist persecution in Svyatogorsk and nearby villages in Eastern Ukraine are to be enabled to have a life with dignity in their old age.
Training in the areas of education, health and protection against fraudsters and violence are organized for survivors of National Socialist persecution as well as their relatives and volunteers. Joint health and leisure activities facilitate positive human contact. People with low or no mobility are visited and, if necessary, they receive support, e.g. in the form of small repairs, a driving service or even hygiene products.
In Eastern Ukraine, survivors of National Socialism have again been exposed to warfare for some years. Under these conditions project staff make it possible for elderly people to have social contacts and needs-based support.

The project improves the quality of life of survivors of National Socialist persecution from nine Ukrainian cities - Cherkasy, Ternopol, Chernihiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, Zhytomyr, Hlukhiv - by enabling them to take part in social life.
The project is carried out by volunteers who, for example, make home visits to survivors and assist them in their everyday life, accompany them to a doctor or represent their interests, for example, vis-à-vis the authorities. Consultations, information events and care training courses are attended in particular by relatives.
The provider, Turbota pro Litnih, advocates for the rights of elderly people and works well with social centers and local authorities. This project focuses on supporting relatives, which in turn has a positive effect on survivors.
