INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY ON REMEMBRANCE AND HUMAN RIGHTS

The second “International Academy on Remembrance and Human Rights” took place in Berlin from March 14-19, 2010.

The International Academy was a unique learning opportunity for people working in the fields of human rights education, historical education and remembrance. The 22 participants came from Israel, Russia, Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine and Germany. The working areas of these educators and project managers covered human rights education and historical education as well as education at memorial sites.

  • Human rights enforcement system from a current and historical perspective
  • The meaning of human rights in the midst of social upheavals in Eastern Europe
  • Perspectives on human rights at historical locations in Berlin 

 

Goals of the Academy

  • Demonstrate possibilities for the connection of historical education with human rights education
  • Convey fundamental knowledge and skills in the field of national and international human rights protection
  • Encourage the development of corresponding project ideas and educational offerings


Thanks to engaging discussions, constructive suggestions and the lively composition of the group, the second “International Academy on Remembrance and Human Rights” was carried out successfully.
