The Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” (EVZ) is supporting an international exhibition on forced labour under National Socialism and thereby adding to the documentation of this theme. The exhibition is expected to open its doors in autumn 2010 at the Jewish Museum in Berlin: 28 September 2010 - 30 Januar 2011. Patron of the exhibition is the Federal President of Germany Christian Wulff.
The exhibition will deal with all facets of forced labour under National Socialism, including how the German war machine exploited the victims. It looks at the individual groups of forced labourers, what they had in common and what separated them, and the effects of forced labour on a German society at war. It aims to present the full history of forced labour and to anchor this in the German and European memory. The Foundation is providing funding of EUR 4 million for the project.
The international travelling exhibition is being put together by the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation. After the Jewish Museum in Berlin, the exhibition will then travel to various other countries.
