“LENINGRAD BLOCKADE – TRAGEDY AND MYTH”
The Leningrad Blockade is legendary in Russia. In Germany, the more than 1 million dead are among the lesser-known victims of the Nazis. The theatre project, based on the historical events, uses materials such as letters, pictures and sound recordings from the Nazi and Soviet eras. The multimedia performance also makes use of the personal and familial experiences of the participants. Through accessible installations, the audience is actively brought in to the performance and can take on different perspectives. On the anniversary of the beginning of the Blockade on 8 September, the play will premiere in the Theater unterm Dach in Berlin; further performances are planned in St. Petersburg in 2018. The project is funded in the EVZ programme “Education with Testimonies”, and is a joint production of Drama Panorama e.V. (Berlin) and Teatr Pokoleniy (St. Petersburg).
