The MemoRails funding program financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and the EVZ Foundation is aimed at civil society initiatives in Germany that commemorate the crimes of the Nazi regime and their consequences at railroad stations in Germany in a creative and contemporary way.
The aim is to make railroad stations visible as places of Nazi persecution, to research stories of the persecuted and the perpetrators and to remember the victims with various commemorative and event formats, each tailored to the individual circumstances on site, in the immediate environment of the railroad station. The local population is to be involved in the remembrance work.
As highly frequented places of transit, railroad stations are suitable for giving people the opportunity to commemorate Nazi crimes and create public awareness of the stories “behind” the stations. The funding program provides a clear impetus for coming to terms with Nazi injustice and commemorating the victims on the 80th anniversary of the end of the war.
We look forward to receiving your applications and project ideas!
