Digital Atlas of Nazi Crimes

The project "Digital Atlas of Nazi Crimes", or NCA for short, makes all crimes of the Nazi dictatorship (1933 to 1945) which were investigated by German judicial authorities after 1945 accessible to the public free of charge via a digital atlas with a bilingual smartphone app.

As a digital catalogue, it contains about 25,000 cases of Nazi crimes which refer to about 8,000 locations in Germany.

Basis for local remembrance work
The service is aimed at educational institutions, initiatives, universities and an international audience. The aim is to raise awareness of the extent of Nazi crimes and strengthen the local culture of remembrance.

The app makes it possible to display Nazi crimes in geolocalised form and thus establish a direct link to the historical crime scenes. An integrated editorial system coordinates the extended research and publications. Training courses are designed to qualify users for extensions with local research.

The organization dieKunstBauStelle e.V., founded in Landsberg am Lech in 2014, is dedicated to promoting art, culture and education with a special focus on remembrance culture and historical awareness. The association has been operating the "BayernHistory App" since 2023 as a digital service for communicating history in Bavaria.
