The project series VON HIER AUS [Starting from Here] brings deportation and forced labor in Neumünster into public view. Children and young people connect research and art and reinforce the culture of remembrance and democratic awareness all around the station.
The project series VON HIER AUS [Starting from Here] is dedicated to the life stories of people who were forced to come to Neumünster, had to stay here or were deported from here. The main station, once a central location of arrival, forced labor and abduction, forms the historical starting point of the examination. In seven creative workshop formats, students explored local events and life stories, encountered traces of the past throughout the city, and engaged with them through artistic, musical and performative forms of expression. In this way, history became tangible in the places where it happened, helping to embed remembrance in the long-term consciousness of participants, especially young people. The project series offers residents of Neumünster a vivid way of engaging with the past while fostering democratic values such as empathy, critical thinking and a sense of responsibility.

Helena Garbicz wurde im März 1943 zur Zwangsarbeit nach Neumünster deportiert. Sie musste in der Munitionsfabrik Sörensen & Köster in Brachenfeld arbeiten. Untergebracht war sie im sogenannten „Polenlager“ in der Wittorfer Straße 136. Ihr Fall ist durch Unterlagen der Arolsen Archives dokumentiert und steht exemplarisch für die Zwangsarbeit in der regionalen Rüstungsindustrie.

Der katholische Priester Eduard Müller war längere Zeit in Neumünster tätig. Er verbreitete Predigten des Bischofs Clemens August Graf von Galen, die sich kritisch mit Maßnahmen des NS-Regimes auseinandersetzten. Im Juni 1942 wurde er verhaftet, am 10. November 1943 in Hamburg hingerichtet. Sein Fall steht für kirchlichen Widerstand gegen nationalsozialistische Politik.

Adressbuch für Neumünster und Umgegend 1933 mit Adresse "Egon Minden". Egon Minden lebte seit 1928 in Neumünster, unter anderem am Großflecken und in der Wasbeker Straße. Seine Wohnorte sind durch Adressbücher dokumentiert. Heute erinnert ein Stolperstein an ihn. Seine Biografie verdeutlicht, wie sich individuelle Lebenswege anhand städtischer Quellen rekonstruieren lassen.

Ernst Biberstein bei den Nürnberger Prozessen. Ernst Biberstein war evangelischer Pastor und später Leiter des Einsatzkommandos 6 der Einsatzgruppe C in der Sowjetunion. Das Kommando war für die Ermordung von 2.000 bis 3.000 Menschen verantwortlich. Nach seiner Haftstrafe arbeitete er im kirchlichen Bereich und lebte später in Neumünster.

Since 1977, this privately run music school has been a central and trusted feature of both the musical education landscape and the cultural life of the city of Neumünster in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein. As a modern and internationally minded institution, it offers a comprehensive, high-quality educational program ranging from early childhood music education and foundational training to professional instrumental and vocal instruction, ensemble work, music theory, accompanying studies, pre-college training and specialized programs for older adults. Partnerships with daycare centers and schools, as well as projects that promote democratic values and strengthen cultural participation, are a permanent part of the music school’s mission and continue to be developed and expanded. Through their public presence, in particular in the form of concerts, theater productions and workshops, they make a significant contribution to the cultural life of the city. The MemoRails project complements this profile in a special way.
