Learning from Experiences? The German Compensation Program for Nazi-Era Forced Labor
Can one learn from the German experience in addressing a massive-scale injustice and dealing with compensation issues in other countries? Ten years after the end of the compensation payments to former forced labourers, the EVZ Foundation introduces the publication "The German Compensation Program for Forced Labor: Practice and Experiences", which deals with challenges and "lessons learned" in compensation. The publication, which will be available online as of June 2017, presents an answer to the international interest in conducting compensation payments, experienced by the EVZ Foundation over the past years. At the same time, this secures that the institutional knowledge on the practical design of one of the largest scale compensation programmes ever is not lost.
