In the framework of goEast Film Festival

The Foundation EVZ and goEast are inviting entries for the Documentary Award “Remembrance and Future”, which is endowed with prize money of 10,000 euros and was presented for the first time in the framework of the 2008 goEast festival. Future can be shaped by those who choose not to ignore the past. The award aims to honour directors who critically and constructively analyze social developments in their countries of origin, and thereby point out future-oriented perspectives.

For the Foundation the goEast Film Festival offers a vivid platform for international understanding. Both partners regard documentary film as a medium that achieves remarkable efforts in the analysis of society, thus being at the same time an impulse for development. Eligible for submission are documentary films of a duration exceeding 30 minutes from the post-communist countries of Central, Eastern and Southeast Europe, including the former republics of the Soviet Union. Likewise eligible to compete are films produced in Germany or Israel but bearing a clear relation to Central and Eastern Europe, whether due to the origin of the director and/or the subject of the film.
