The Foundation EVZ is supporting 13 international research projects in order to close knowledge gaps about forced labour during the National Socialist era and the lives of former forced labourers after 1945. The research projects explore various aspects of the work people from throughout Europe were forced to do for the German Reich – both within and outside its borders. The Foundation is providing a total of EUR 900,000 for this funding programme.
The projects get to grips with a variety of themes, such as the forced labour camps for Jews in the Cracow district, the work performed by Roma deportees in Transnistria, and the suffering inflicted on Belarusian forced labourers.
The research results will be presented at an international conference in Berlin from 8 to 10 November 2010.
